On cruise start day, you will be picked up at Male International Airport and taken to the ship of your choice, where a refreshing welcome drink will be waiting for you. Please check the individual check-in times for your ship.
Finally - the anchor is hoisted and the ship leaves Male for the first dive site. This happens either on the arrival day or on the following day early morning - it`s individual handled by every ship. At the first dive site, an obligatory "check dive" is held, which is a great opportunity to check everybody’s scuba gear and diving skills. If you haven't dived for a while, this will also serve as a great refresher course and we try to choose a nice calm dive site for the check dive. Please don’t forget to bring your logbook and your dive certification with you on your Maldives scuba diving holiday!
At the start of each safari, the captain and the dive instructor decide on a route. This depends on the prevailing seasonal weather and current conditions. You are in the hands of experts; our crews are very good at choosing the best route for the current weather conditions. We will do our best to ensure you have the best Maldives scuba diving experience possible.
The experienced dive guides will take you to the most spectacular dive sites in the Maldives. No other dive destination can be compared to the Maldives in terms of top dive sites and marine life diversity.
The rainbow-coloured coral reefs and overgrown wrecks of the Maldives are home to endless attractions, both big and small. The Maldives are renowned for the abundance of big aquatic animals such as Whale Sharks, Manta Rays, Reef Sharks, Napoleon Wrasse and several Ray species. Time and time again, the breathtaking, synchronised manoeuvres of the big schools of fish fascinate even the most experienced of divers. And fans of macro-attractions will also get their money’s worth: the nooks and crannies of the coral reefs teem with Gobies, Blennies, Snails and other tiny wonders of the Indian Ocean.
The Maldives consists of thousands of reefs that are full of beautiful surprises just waiting to be discovered. Each scuba diving safari is an adventure all of its own that can take you into remote parts of the Maldives, which most tourists will never have the opportunity to see.
At the end of each day, the ship anchors in a protected lagoon. Our safari boats never travel at night.
Life Onboard a Liveaboard:
Divers can relax to their heart’s content on our ships, which offer casual comfort, plenty of space, exciting activities and a great atmosphere. Our excellent cooks, well-stocked bars and attentive staff make for an unforgettable holiday in the Maldives.
All cabins are air-conditioned and have en-suite bathrooms with hot-water showers and WCs. Towels and bedding are changed regularly.
Spending a night under the stars on one of the decks is also an experience not to be missed.
The cabins on the different boats vary in size and style; please refer to the individual ship pages for detailed information on the various options.
All our safari ships offer a variety of activities, which are available free of charge to our guests. Snorkelling, island visits, island dinners and ball games are popular things to do on a leisurely cruise through the Maldives.
Snorkelling: One of our crew members takes you to a coral reef in a dinghy and escorts you throughout your snorkelling expedition. That way you can relax and enjoy the abundance of fish life and beautiful underwater landscapes. Encounters with Turtles, Rays, Reef Sharks and large schools of fish make every snorkelling trip a special experience.
Fishing: Due to the abundance of marine life, fishing enthusiasts can reel in big catches with the simplest of means in the Maldives. Maldivians traditionally fish with very basic equipment and still pull out loads of Red Snapper, Barracuda, Tuna, Jackfish and Grouper. Our guests can try their luck, fishing under the expert guidance of our crew. And, if the fish bite, the cook will turn the catch of the day into an extra special feast.
Island visits: All of our ships offer island visits as part of the cruise itinerary. No matter how much you like hanging out on board, do not miss the chance to visit one of the fishing villages and get to know the local culture of the Maldivian people!
Island dinner: Once a week a special dinner is served on the beach of an uninhabited island. An elaborate buffet, cool drinks and traditional Maldivian drum music guarantee an unforgettable evening. It’s the perfect time for a night-time swim, a bit of dancing in the sand and leisurely star-gazing; an unbeatable combination of adventure and romance.
Football / Volleyball: Most of the ships have a football or volleyball on board. Spontaneous tournaments are popular with both guests and crew. Ball games are part of any Maldivian experience and the crew is always up for a match!
Food and Drink:
Scuba diving really works up a healthy appetite, which is why we value quality and variety in our cuisine. Menus change daily and consist of a combination of Asian and European food. A well-assorted drinks menu completes the dining experience.
All our ships are fully licensed and have a trained bartender, who skillfully mixes exotic and classic sundowners – with or without alcohol.
At the end of your scuba diving safari tour, you will be taken to the airport in time to catch your flight home. No dives are taken in the last 24 hours of the trip, to ensure a safe flight home for all our guests.
