Liveaboard Holidays in Maldives

Liveaboard cruises are becoming the ultimate pastime for holidays in the Maldives. We offer a wide range of scuba trips, dive safaris and cruises on a carefully selected array of ships. All our ships conform to strict government health and safety regulations, and are accompanied by experienced dive masters and certified guides, so you will be carefully looked after!

Maldives Liveaboard Holidays

For those of you who would like to know exactly how your liveaboard holiday in Maldives will unfold, here is a brief outline of the standard procedures.

In most cases your Maldives holiday experience starts as soon as you land at Male International Airport. You will be picked up by the liveaboard operators, who will accompany you to the ship for some refreshing drinks and snacks, while you wait for all the guests to arrive.

Now is the last chance to check that you have everything you need for your Maldives liveaboard holiday; we have compiled a checklist of essentials for your benefit, which you can download here.

Once all guests are aboard the ship and the captain gives the go-ahead, the liveaboard cruiser will set sail from Male towards the first dive site - to be determined by the experienced dive instructors. The exact route and location will take into account factors such as the current Maldives weather conditions, the season, the weather forecast and even the experience and intuition of the captain or dive masters. You can place your full trust in their seasoned hands, as they will aim to make your Maldives holiday and liveaboard dive safari a delightful experience.

There are numerous dive sites around the Maldives. Popular ones include Hanifaru Bay, Banana Reef, Guraidhoo Kandu and Maalhos Thila, just to name a few. We have compiled a detailed guide on the best dive sites in the Maldives, right here.

Approaching the first dive site everyone must undertake the compulsory initial "check dive"; not only is this helpful in determining everyone's level of diving experience, but it serves as a refresher course, and also evaluates the full functionality of the scuba equipment for the later, more taxing scuba dives. Do not forget to bring along your diving logbook and dive certification, as it is a prerequisite for your liveaboard holiday to the Maldives.

Liveaboard dive safaris usually embark on up to three dives a day, on some occasions even a night dive may be on the cards. You can look forward to cruising around the hundreds of tiny sand banks, beautiful lagoons and picturesque islands, while your dives into the Maldivian waters will bring you face to face with the incredible marine life; dazzling coral formations, diverse aquatic creatures and even ancient ship wrecks. Going on liveaboard holidays in the Maldives allows you an exclusive look into the remote places not usually accessible otherwise, such as the beautiful lagoons and isolated beaches, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Life on a liveaboard offers more than just diving though, there are numerous leisure activities to keep you entertained throughout your Maldives holiday. With an experienced crew on hand, you can relax and have a drink at the bar, watch a gorgeous sunset on deck whilst kicking back in a comfortable recliner, or even enjoy a Jacuzzi on board. Have a look at this video tour of the popular luxury liveaboard "Theia".

Not to mention, the delicious food and drink available on liveaboard cruisers. Proficient cooks offering a wide variety of cuisines are naturally part of the crew; you can sample the local menu, which includes a lot of sea-food such as shrimps, clams and fish. To spice things up you could even go fishing during the day, with an eye on catching your own dinner!

Stopping off on one of the many islands around the Maldives is a popular habit, as you can mingle with the friendly locals and absorb some of their culture and traditions. They will be more than happy to engage in a spot of spontaneous beachside football or volleyball, throw together a barbeque, start jamming with some traditional Maldivian drums along with singing and dancing and maybe even some night-time swimming.

One can see how liveaboard safari trips in the Maldives have a little something for everyone. We at Maldives Dive Travel will do our best to ensure you have an amazing experience on holiday in the Maldives, so don't hesitate to get in touch!
